As a boudoir photographer, the human form continues to amaze me in all the beautiful ladies I now work with, who are fabulous at any age.
In fact ever since I was little, I was fascinated by the human form, the grace of dancers, the power of athletes, their shapes and curves. I get to play with light and shadows to emphasise how beautiful everyone's bodies are. Throughout human history artists have been obsessed with the human form, no doubt you can think of your favourite old master and how they painted women.
I feel very privileged to have been to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the artworks there are sensational, they really understood the female form and how to make their models look so beautiful. Back then curves were most definitely celebrated, but now not so much and I am definitely on a mission to change your appreciation of your curves!
I have learned that nearly all women, no matter what their age is, are prone to looking in the mirror and criticising themselves. We only see the bits we don't like and we fail to appreciate ourselves as a whole. Why? You wouldn't say the things you say to yourself to your best friend. They probably wouldn't be your friends if you did - so don't say mean things to yourself!!
That constant critique is like water torture and can wear you down, sap your confidence and spark and send you running when anyone tries to take a photograph of you! Yes, I do run from the camera too at times! I know that as we age these self-doubts can wear our confidence down, but I know that a boudoir shoot can help you realise that you are fabulous at any age!
Sometimes all you need is a little nudge to break that cycle of self-doubt. Braving the boudoir is a life-changing step for you to take, to allow yourself to see the real you, not the image that you see in the mirror. That sounds weird, what I mean is not just the wibbly wobbly bits we see in the mirror, those parts of ourselves that we just can't see past.
Through my craft I get to show women how incredible they are, I get to show them how they look through kinder eyes. One of my greatest joys is to see women bloom in front of my camera, to see them realise that they are beautiful. I get to show them that they are fabulous at any age from 21 to 71 and beyond.
This lovely lady came in to create a special present for her fiancé. She is fabulous at 55 years old and decided to brave the boudoir. She now knows, she is fierce, she is strong and she is amazing. She deserves to be seen.
30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. Don't let your own thoughts or a stupid number limit what you can do. Let me show you that you really are fabulous at any age.
