Boudoir Photo Shoot Preparation Timeline

boudoir photo shoot preparation timeline calendar

I thought that you would find this Boudoir Photo Shoot Preparation Timeline useful to help you prepare yourself for your shoot. Of course, I'm always here to help answer any questions you may have. I also recommend joining my ladies only VIP group, it's full of women who have already had a shoot, and like you who are thinking about having a shoot, you'll find oodles of advice in there too.

I know that you want me to create the most beautiful images of you, but did you realise that you'll have some work to do yourself before you come in for your boudoir shoot? No, I don't mean turning yourself into a gym bunny to get in shape (although I do recommend getting into the habit of doing some gentle stretching exercises - you'll thank me for this advice after your shoot!!).

Fail to plan - plan to fail!

This quote resonates with me so much because it holds so much truth: "The better you prepare, the more amazing your images will be." I wholeheartedly want your boudoir experience to be an absolute blast from start to finish. And guess what? The better prepared you are, the more you'll truly enjoy every moment of it.

Take a look at this handy boudoir photo shoot preparation guide timeline I've put together. While not everything may apply to your unique situation, it can serve as a fantastic starting point. Plus, you might come up with some additional items to add to your own personalized boudoir preparation timeline. If you do, I encourage you to share them in my ladies-only VIP group. You never know, your suggestions might just come in handy for other incredible ladies in the group as well. Let's support each other and make this experience truly unforgettable!

Boudoir Photo Shoot Preparation Timeline

2-6 months before your session

  • Book a discovery call to learn all about the incredible boudoir sessions I offer and find out how I can make your vision a reality. During our conversation, we'll discuss the details, answer any questions you have, and most importantly, secure a date in my diary that works perfectly for you. You need to book your boudoir session at least 5-6 weeks before you need your final images and artwork.

4-6 weeks before

  • It's time to unleash your imagination and decide on the perfect boudoir look for your upcoming photoshoot! Whether you envision something seductive, playful, or elegant, now is the moment to bring your vision to life. If you want to add some fresh and exciting pieces to your lingerie collection, indulge yourself by purchasing new lingerie that complements your desired boudoir aesthetic. Let your creativity soar as you explore various styles, colours, and textures. Remember, this is your opportunity to express your unique personality and create stunning images that truly capture your essence. Important - make sure that your lingerie fits you! The last thing you want is something that is too tight or too big, that won't be flattering in your images!
  • Start gentle stretching exercises, trust me you will thank me for this after your shoot!

2- 4 weeks before

  • Plan your outfits and try them on. I recommend that you bring at least 4 different outfits
  • Make a list of everything you are planning to bring

1-2 weeks before

  • Time to get your hair cut and coloured, don't leave this until the last minute, we all know that hair can take some time to settle down again (or is that just mine?)

2-3 days before your shoot

Definitely personal pampering time!

  • Nails and pedicure, think about the colour, will it match or compliment your lingerie? You can't go wrong with a natural look, but of course red nails are a classic look for a boudoir photo shoot
  • Waxing this will allow any redness or irritation to subside before your boudoir session
  • Tweek your eyebrows if needed.
  • Remove all the labels from your lingerie, you don't want any unsightly labels appearing in your images.
  • Clean your shoes and remove any labels, quite often the labels on the bottom of your shoes can be awkward to remove, so do take them off before you come, it will save time during your session.
  • Plan your journey, I recommend using my what3words location and there's a video in my ladies-only group, showing you the approach to the studio.

The day before your boudoir photo shoot

  • Pack your bag, obvious I know, but check you've got everything that you put on your list.
  • Pamper your skin, exfoliate and moisturise.
  • Wash your hair, I know this may sound weird but day-old washed hair is easier to style and will hold the style for longer.

The morning of your shoot

  • Have a good breakfast, and don't starve yourself, you will need your energy!
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes to avoid marks. The next time you take your clothes off, look at the marks that they have left, loose-fitting clothes will help minimise this.

Who knew there were so many exciting things to consider when planning your boudoir photo shoot? It may seem like a lot at first glance, but trust me, taking the time to plan ahead and follow this preparation timeline will make a world of difference. Picture yourself walking into your shoot feeling well-prepared and totally relaxed, knowing you are totally prepared. With a little bit of planning and a lot of enthusiasm, you'll be ready to shine and capture stunning images during your boudoir experience.
