I am so privileged to meet and photograph so many fabulous women of all ages. Annette is such an interesting lady and had so many fascinating stories to tell me during her boudoir shoot.
I booked a boudoir photoshoot because I thought it would be a lovely way to capture how I look at 65 years old. A celebration of life! Yes, it was totally self-indulgent and why not?!
She was keen to share her story in the hope that it will encourage others to brave the boudoir so that they too can see how gorgeous they are. She has kindly allowed me to share some of her images and her boudoir story with you.
Initially, I didn’t do any research into this type of photography. I was on Facebook one day and your ad popped and reading through it, I thought - what a great idea.
On preparing for the boudoir photo shoot, I joined the Lone Barn Facebook group and there I found a lot of positive and interesting comments. Of course, the telephone consultation with Julie really helped and gave me the opportunity to ask lots of questions. Then a few days later I received an information pack from Julie with lots of fantastic tips. I found especially helpful, the time plan and countdown to the photoshoot day.
Getting my outfits ready was a fantastic opportunity for me to buy lovely pieces at bargain prices from eBay.
I had no fears before the photoshoot, just curiosity. I was curious whether I would recognise myself! To see myself from an unfamiliar and new perspective for the first time. Yes, it was quite a revelation!
I wanted the hair and makeup to compliment my age and soften the look. Miriam worked her magic and delivered the perfect look for me. I won’t lie I was a bit nervous when it came to my hair, but there was absolutely no need. More volume was added and it looked just fab. The whole concept was amazing and I loved it.
When I stepped into the studio, I felt like a million dollars and I just wanted to get started. I was super happy with how the outfits were arranged by Julie, for the different photos. I found Julie’s posing guidance really easy to follow. Although I didn’t realise how hard and intense posing can be!
I was totally blown away by the photos presented at the viewing. The anticipation between shoot and reveal appointments was unbearable! Choosing the images was not at all easy, but I’m pretty sure I have the best album.
So, if you are thinking of a boudoir photoshoot, just relax and go for it. You won’t regret a thing. I felt totally satisfied. I did what I set out to do and have a fabulous album to treasure.
Maybe I’ll have another boudoir shoot – it’s not completely ruled out.
I loved Annette's shoot and all the choices of lingerie and props she brought with her, I just know she has lots more pieces to play with, so fingers crossed she will visit me again.
She totally proved that age is no barrier to trying something new and that women in their sixties are so beautiful and sexy!
